Best Hotels in Mauritius: Our Picks, Region by Region
The lively north, the long beaches of the east, west-coast sunsets and the lagoons of the south-east: for each part of Mauritius, a shortlist of hotels rated 8/10 or more, with official star ratings, recent prices and honest downsides.
Each coast of Mauritius has its own character: the north around Grand Baie is the liveliest; the east lines up big resorts along long beaches, windier in the southern winter; the west lives by its sunsets, and the south-west feels wilder, at the foot of Le Morne.
Several of the island's big resorts aren't sold by our partner: we mention them on the relevant pages without ranking them. Stars shown come from the official Tourism Authority rating; a place that isn't on that list shows none.

How we pick the hotels
A score of at least 8/10
We only include hotels rated at least 8 out of 10 by guests of our partner Agoda, with a credible number of reviews. The rare exceptions are explained on the page.
The official rating
Stars shown come from the Mauritius Tourism Authority, never from what booking platforms claim.
Checked locations
Every hotel is pinned on the map, with its beach, its lagoon and real distances to the airport and the sights.
Prices checked regularly
Scores and 'from' prices are checked regularly and dated: they're a guide for comparing, never a guaranteed rate.
FAQ
Which coast should I choose for a first trip to Mauritius?
The north, around Grand Baie, for nightlife and boat trips; the east, at Belle Mare, for long beaches and big resorts, bearing in mind the wind blows hard from June to August; the west, at Flic-en-Flac, for the sunsets.
Why aren't some well-known resorts ranked?
Because our partner doesn't sell them, and we only rank hotels you can book through our links. We still mention them on the relevant pages so you can compare.
Are the stars shown official?
Yes: we only use the Tourism Authority rating. Guesthouses and small residences that aren't on it show no stars, which says nothing about their quality.
Are the prices shown guaranteed?
No: they're the lowest rates we found at our last check, dated on every page. They vary with the season, your dates and the board basis.
Where can I find a budget hotel or a 5-star?
Two island-wide guides compare them: budget hotels and 5-star hotels.
