Best Hotels in Reunion Island: Our Picks, Town by Town
From Saint-Denis to the wild south, from the cirques to the west coast: for every part of the island, a shortlist of 5 to 10 places to stay, with guest scores, recent prices, neighbourhoods and an honest downside for each.
On Reunion Island, rated hotels cluster on the west coast and in Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre. In the cirques, the highlands and the wild south, you mostly stay in guesthouses, lodges or small residences, and our guides hold them to the same standard as hotels.
Each page is written for its own destination: where to stay for the trip you have in mind, what reviews really say, and what might put you off. When a town has too few solid options, we pair it with its neighbour rather than padding the list.

How we pick the places
A score of at least 8/10
We only include places rated at least 8 out of 10 by guests of our partner Agoda, with a credible number of reviews. The rare exceptions are explained on the page.
Genuine establishments
Recognised hotels, guesthouses, lodges and residences, not private listings with generic names. Stars shown are from the official rating only.
Checked locations
Every place is pinned on the map, with its neighbourhood and real distances to beaches, trails or the airport.
Prices checked regularly
Scores and 'from' prices are checked regularly and dated: they're a guide for comparing, never a guaranteed rate.
FAQ
Where should I stay on a first trip to Reunion?
On a first visit, combine two or three bases: the west coast for the beach, in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains or Saint-Leu, the south around Saint-Pierre, and a night or two in a cirque, in Cilaos or Salazie.
How are the hotels chosen?
Each place must be rated at least 8 out of 10 by our partner's guests, have enough reviews, and be a recognised, bookable establishment. We then check its location, its official rating and the themes that come up in reviews.
Are the prices shown guaranteed?
No: they're the lowest rates we found at our last check, dated on every page. They vary with the season, your dates and the board basis.
Why do some pages cover two places?
Because a page has to offer at least five solid places. When a place doesn't have enough, we pair it with its direct neighbour, such as Saint-Benoît with Bras-Panon.
What about gîtes, campsites or wild camping?
They have their own guides: gîtes in Reunion, campsites, wild camping spots and budget hotels.
