Best hotels in Grand Baie and Pereybère: 8 places around the bay

Rated 5-star Luxury by the Mauritius Tourism Authority, LUX* Grand Baie opened on 1 November 2021 on the curve of the bay. Its 116 units range from 65 m² beachfront Junior Suites to two-bedroom Pool Residences across the coast road, linked to the resort by a skywalk.

You won't run out of places to eat: Beach Rouge does Italian, Ai KISU does Japanese, and the adults-only Bisou rooftop has a 30-metre infinity pool. The LUX* Me spa covers 1,625 m². There's the PLAY kids' club, a Studio 17 hangout for teens, and an all-inclusive option if you want it.

A small SeaResorts hotel ( the group behind Ocean V ) right on the water along the Pointe aux Canonniers coast road, close to Canonnier beach. It opened in 2015, was refurbished in 2023 and has around twenty rooms and suites plus a villa, with a stretch of beach kept for guests.

Guests must be 12 or over, and the mood is unhurried: a heated infinity pool facing the open sea, a wellness area, the main restaurant and Le Hublot, a beach bar and restaurant with your feet in the sand. Reviewers keep coming back to the staff, who go out of their way for honeymooners.

Formerly Hôtel 20° Sud, this hotel sits in an old coconut plantation at Pointe Malartic, between Grand Baie and Pointe aux Canonniers. It's the only Relais & Châteaux in Mauritius ( a member since 2013 ). Renamed La Maison 20 Degrés Sud, it reopened on 1 September 2025 after renovation, with 36 rooms including six suites and a villa.

Life here revolves around L'Atlas restaurant, two pools heated to 28 °C, the Secret Spa and the Lady Lisbeth, a vintage motor boat that heads out for sunset dinners. Bikes and a shuttle are free. It's geared towards adults.

Twenty-four rooms on a quiet street in Pointe aux Canonniers, 2.5 km from Grand Baie village. There's no sea view or beach at the end of the garden, but there is a pool ringed with loungers and a daily shuttle to Mont Choisy beach, 2 km away. The bars and restaurants of Grand Baie village are a short taxi ride off.

Breakfast is included on some rates ( check yours ) and it's what guests rave about: pastries, fruit, and omelettes and pancakes cooked to order. People also praise the housekeeping and how helpful the staff are. You can rent a car on site.

A 95-room 4-star built around all-inclusive stays, on the bay and about ten minutes' walk from the village bars, restaurants and shops. It's a handy base for enjoying Grand Baie without a car.

There's a buffet at Le Food Comptoir, seafood at the Lazy Lobster, two bars ( La Varangue and La Crique ), a 25-metre pool with a separate one for toddlers, and a Seven Colours Spa. The Timomo club takes 3 to 11-year-olds, paddleboards and kayaks are free to borrow, and some units have a small kitchen, which helps with children.

Six studios, two suites and a villa set around a pool in a tropical garden, on a residential street in Pointe aux Canonniers. Open since 2018, it's run by its owner, Anja, who gets a mention in review after review for her welcome.

Every unit has a kitchenette, which makes longer stays easy, and you can book the home-made brunch or a Mauritian table d'hôte dinner. Pointe aux Canonniers beach is 700 metres away, and Mont Choisy and La Croisette are five minutes by car.

An art hotel opened by SeaResorts in November 2019, where the Royal Road meets Old Mill Road in Pereybère. It's for over-16s only, and the public beach is 200 metres away, a four-minute walk.

The rooftop is the main event, with an infinity pool, restaurant and bar facing the sunset. Downstairs there's a Chinese restaurant, a café and a spa. You can book bed and breakfast or half board, and plenty of guests mention being upgraded.

A guesthouse and restaurant on the Mont Oreb coast road, north of Pereybère on the way to Cap Malheureux. There's a beach just across the road, Pereybère public beach is 800 metres away, and a supermarket is nearby if you want to self-cater. Pereybère's shallow lagoon is a great place for first-time snorkellers.

There's a pool with a bar, free parking and a restaurant whose fish, grills and burgers go down as well as the breakfast crêpes. Beach towels and parasols are lent out. Cleanliness and friendly staff are what guests praise most.
