Funbooker review: the French leisure experiences platform
Funbooker is the French marketplace for leisure experiences: 8,000+ activities in 8 categories, a platform rating of 4.7/5 from more than 50,311 reviews, the Funpass gift card and private event planning. I tested it on a big-game fishing trip in Reunion Island: here's my detailed review.

Funbooker in 8 figures
Funbooker has become the leading French platform for city leisure and events. Where Manawa focuses on outdoor activities and GetYourGuide on cultural guided tours, Funbooker owns the niche of workshops, driving experiences, escape games, treasure hunts and hen and stag dos.
Why Funbooker is my go-to for leisure activities in France
Three strengths give Funbooker its edge. First, its French focus: 8,000+ activities, 100% in France, chosen for city leisure and events. Second, the depth of its unusual categories: flight and driving simulators, creative workshops, escape games, treasure hunts. Third, the Funpass gift card, one of the most flexible on the market (valid for 12 months, usable on 8,000+ activities).
In Reunion Island, the catalogue is thinner than Manawa's but a few activities are present (big-game fishing at Saint-Gilles, jet-ski, paragliding). Funbooker is above all a platform for mainland France, worth remembering for everyday outings away from the island.

A big-game fishing trip at Saint-Gilles booked through Funbooker
To put the platform to a real test, I booked a big-game fishing boat trip with Joel and his team at Saint-Gilles-les-Bains: 5 hours, up to 10 people, €130 per person. Here's how it went.

1. A simple, intuitive booking
I filtered by destination (“Reunion Island”) and category (“Nature”). The big-game fishing listing came up with 5/5 from 1 review, spectacular photos of catches (tuna and exotic fish) and a full description. Then: choose a date and time, pay by card, instant email confirmation.
2. The briefing with Joel
30 years of experience according to the listing, a welcome at Saint-Gilles harbour and a briefing on safety and technique. Quality gear and a comfortable boat for 10 people. The team sets the tone from the moment you step aboard.
3. The 5-hour trip
Out at sea, moving between fishing grounds: a good catch, a friendly atmosphere and precise advice throughout. A genuinely local experience, far from mass tourism.
4. The test verdict
From booking to getting back to the dock, everything ran smoothly: a fair price, a highly experienced operator and a memorable day. I give it 4.5/5, losing 0.5 for the smaller Reunion Island catalogue (thinner than Manawa's) and the lack of replies to negative reviews on Trustpilot.
The Funpass, one of the best gift cards on the leisure market
The Funpass is valid for 12 months across the entire 8,000 activity catalogue, as a physical or digital card, for any amount. The recipient picks their activity from the categories on offer: Air, Workshops, Food, Wellness, Piloting, Virtual, Tours.

This is the strength Funbooker pushes hardest, and rightly so. The Funpass solves the classic experience-gift dilemma: you set the budget and the recipient chooses the activity that suits them.
Typical uses: a teenager's birthday (a driving simulator plus an escape game), a family Christmas (a cooking workshop plus a Marais tour), a colleague's leaving do (wellness or food), a hen or stag do (bungee jumping, jet-ski, workshops).
What sets Funbooker apart
Six points that set it apart from global marketplaces (Viator, GetYourGuide) and outdoor specialists (Manawa).
8,000 leisure activities in France
A 100% French catalogue focused on leisure and events: Air & Flight, Water, Workshops, Wellness, Food, Nature, Park & Fun, Piloting. 4,200+ activities in the first search results, including the big-game fishing trip at Saint-Gilles that I tested.
An exceptional platform rating
4.7/5 from more than 50,311 reviews shown on the homepage, and 4.6/5 from 726 Trustpilot reviews with 86% 5-star ratings. It's one of the highest ratings in the sector, particularly on Trustpilot, where the share of 5-star reviews beats most competitors.
A versatile Funpass gift card
The Funpass is Funbooker's gift card, valid for 12 months across the entire 8,000+ activity catalogue. It comes as a physical or digital card, for any amount. Ideal for giving an experience without choosing the activity: the recipient decides. One of the best gift cards on the leisure market.
iGraal cashback and promo codes
Funbooker is listed on iGraal (a French cashback site), with €3 free when you sign up plus 5 permanent Funbooker promo codes. You can combine them with Funbooker's seasonal promotions to bring down the final price.
Private event organisation
Funbooker also organises private events: birthdays, hen and stag dos, corporate outings. The platform can handle all the logistics on request, a good option if you want to hand the organising over to a listed operator.
Last-minute booking
A "last-minute booking" section for spontaneous outings at weekends or during the week. From a few hours to a few days ahead, you can often find availability on city activities (escape games, workshops, unusual restaurants).
The downsides to know before booking
Three downsides to weigh up, including the lack of replies to negative Trustpilot reviews.
No response to negative Trustpilot reviews
According to Trustpilot, Funbooker doesn't systematically reply to negative reviews. With 5% of reviews at 1 star, the lack of a public response is a weak spot for customer service. Most of the negative feedback concerns last-minute cancellations by operators.
A limited Reunion Island offer
On the island, Funbooker's catalogue is smaller than Manawa's. A few classics are available (big-game fishing, paragliding, jet-skiing), but there is little in the way of guided outdoor activities. For choice in Reunion Island adventure activities, Manawa is still ahead.
A modest volume of Trustpilot reviews
726 Trustpilot reviews is well below GetYourGuide (25,663) or Viator (133,104). The 4.6/5 rating is solid but based on a fairly small number of reviews. The 50,311 reviews shown on the platform itself are more representative.
Two review sources that agree
A platform rating of 4.7 from 50,311 reviews (shown on the Funbooker homepage) and 4.6/5 on Trustpilot with 86% 5-star ratings. iGraal backs this up with 5/5 from 4 verified post-purchase reviews.

Rated “Excellent”, with a very positive spread: 86% 5-star, 6% 4-star and only 5% 1-star. Not many reviews, but overwhelmingly positive. One caveat: Funbooker doesn't systematically reply to negative reviews, according to Trustpilot.

A perfect score from a very small but representative sample. Bonus: €3 free when you sign up to iGraal, plus 5 permanent Funbooker promo codes, which can be combined with Funbooker promotions.
A rating given after actually trying the big-game fishing trip at Saint-Gilles. The missing 0.5 is down to the smaller Reunion Island catalogue (thinner than Manawa's) and the lack of replies to negative reviews on Trustpilot, which is worth keeping an eye on.
My go-to for city leisure activities in mainland France
For an escape game, a creative workshop, a driving simulator, a treasure hunt or a flexible leisure gift (the Funpass), Funbooker is my first port of call. For guided outdoor activities in Reunion Island, Manawa takes over. Rated 4.5/5 after a real test.
