This site is first and foremost about Reunion Island, where quad biking and buggy riding are a flagship activity in the hills above Saint-Paul and around Le Maïdo (see the Reunion Island quad guide for Saint-Paul). Mauritius is more coastal and easier going: flat trails along the ocean, sugar cane tracks and the private Vallée Park nature reserve. Here are the 4 bookable tours, compared one by one.

Quad biking in Mauritius mainly happens in 2 areas: the south coast between Blue Bay and Souillac, still one of the least touristy parts of the island, and Vallée Park at Chamouny, a private nature park on the southern edge of Black River Gorges National Park. Mauritian trails are fairly flat (none of Reunion Island's steep volcanic terrain), with red dirt tracks through sugar cane, tropical forest and along basalt sea cliffs.

4 tours bookable on Manawa: 2 on individual quads (€85 and €90) and 2 in 2-4 seat buggies (€131 and €199 per vehicle, so €35 to €65 per person depending on how many of you there are). The 3-hour Blue Bay tour is the best-rated of the four (5/5 from 31 reviews), ideal if you're staying in the south-east. The Vallée Park tour pairs well with the zipline and hiking on the same day. 2026 prices checked on the update date below.

This is the best-rated quad tour in Mauritius: 5 out of 5 from 31 verified Manawa reviews, more than any other quad tour on the island. It starts in the south, between Blue Bay and Trois Boutiques, an area that's still wild and far less touristy than the north or west coast. The route alternates between coastal trails (basalt cliffs exposed to the open ocean), farmland (sugar cane) and forest sections.

The tour lasts about 3 hours on the trail (not counting the briefing and gearing up). Each participant rides their own quad (the rider often needs a category B car or A1 motorbike licence), and some models can take a passenger on the back. There's a briefing at the start, then a practice run on a closed track before setting off as a guided group.

Who it suits: couples, groups of friends who want a thrill without too much risk, travellers staying in the south-east (Mahébourg, Blue Bay, Pointe d'Esny), and passengers from age 6 riding two-up. Who it doesn't suit: riders looking for technical terrain (Mauritius is fairly flat), and anyone who hates dust (the red dirt trails get very dusty in the dry season).

€90.70 per person on Manawa for the half-day tour, with flexible cancellation for bad weather. Bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty (the red soil stains), closed shoes, a scarf or bandana for the dust (provided on some tours) and sunglasses. Helmet and overalls provided.

Vallée Park (or Vallée des Couleurs Nature Park) is a private nature park at Chamouny, in the south of Mauritius, right on the southern edge of Black River Gorges National Park. It packs in an unusual number of outdoor activities: quad biking, buggies, ziplining and hiking (see the Mauritius hiking page). This quad tour is rated 5 out of 5 from 5 verified Manawa reviews.

The ride lasts 1 to 2 hours on the park's own trails, through tropical forest and plantations and past its coloured earths (a smaller version of the famous Seven Coloured Earths at Chamarel, included in the ride). It's shorter than the Blue Bay tour (€90 for 3 hours), but you can make a full day of it with the park's other activities.

Who it suits: travellers spending the day around Chamarel and south-west Mauritius, families with children from age 6 riding as passengers, and groups who want to do several activities in one place (zipline, buggy, hiking). Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants a coastal ride (book Blue Bay instead) or a longer tour.

€85.30 per person on Manawa for 1 to 2 hours, with flexible cancellation for bad weather. Combine it with the Vallée Park buggy tour (€131) or the zipline (from €25) on the same day; combo deals are available directly from the park.

This tour swaps individual quads for 2- or 4-seat buggies, so the whole family or group can ride in one vehicle instead of spreading across several quads. The route is similar to the Blue Bay quad excursion (€90): coastal trails between Blue Bay and Souillac, inland farmland and basalt cliffs. Rated 5 out of 5 from 4 verified Manawa reviews.

The €199.10 price is per vehicle (not per person), for up to 4 people depending on the buggy. For a family of 4, that works out at roughly €50 each, €40 less per head than an individual quad. The driver must be 18 and hold a valid category B (car) licence; passengers can ride from age 6.

Who it suits: families with children too young to ride a quad, groups of friends who want to stay together, couples where only one wants to drive, and travellers without a licence who are happy to ride as passengers. Who it doesn't suit: confident riders who each want their own vehicle (book the Blue Bay quad at €90 each instead) and solo travellers on a tight budget.

€199.10 per buggy on Manawa, flat fee, with flexible cancellation for bad weather. The driver must show a valid category B licence at check-in. Protective gear (helmets, dust bandanas) provided.

A short buggy ride at Vallée Park that goes well with the quad tour (€85) or the park's zipline. At just 1 hour on the park's trails, it's an easy option if you're combining several activities in one day. Rated 4 out of 5 from 1 verified Manawa review, so very little feedback so far.

The €131.39 price is per buggy (2-4 seats depending on the model), roughly €35-65 per person for a full vehicle. Being short, it leaves time for the park's other activities (the flagship zipline at €50, a half-day hike at €9.66).

Who it suits: families spending the day around Chamarel who want a short motorised activity, groups doing several attractions at Vallée Park, and anyone who wants to try a buggy before a longer tour (Blue Bay, 3 hours at €199). Who it doesn't suit: anyone wanting a proper buggy outing (book Blue Bay at €199 for 3 hours instead) or a real coastal ride.

€131.39 per buggy on Manawa, flat fee, for 1 hour, with flexible cancellation for bad weather. The driver must show a category B licence at check-in.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about quad biking and buggy riding in Mauritius

How much does a quad or buggy excursion cost in Mauritius in 2026?
Prices on Manawa start at €85 per person for 1-2 hours by quad at Vallée Park (5/5 from 5 reviews), and €90 for 3 hours by quad near Blue Bay (5/5 from 31 reviews, the most reviewed of the four). By buggy: €131 at Vallée Park for 1 hour (for 2-4 people, so €35-65 per head) and €199 at Blue Bay for 3 hours (€50-100 per head depending on how many of you there are).
Which spots are best for quad biking in Mauritius?
There are two distinct areas. The south coast around Blue Bay and Trois Boutiques: trails along the open ocean, basalt cliffs and farmland, with the most-reviewed tour of the four (31 reviews at 5/5). And Vallée Park at Chamouny: trails through a private nature park south of Black River Gorges National Park, with shorter rides you can combine with a zipline and hiking on the same day.
What's the minimum age to ride?
16 to ride a quad (with a category B or A1 licence depending on the operator) and 18 to drive a buggy (category B licence compulsory). Passengers are accepted from age 6 on most Mauritius listings on Manawa, with a child-size helmet provided. Check when booking, as some Blue Bay quad tours require riders to be 18.
What's the best time of year for quad biking in Mauritius?
May to November (the dry southern winter): bearable temperatures on the sunny trails, little rain, and firm trails that are easy to ride. Avoid January and February (cyclone season, waterlogged trails and a risk of cancellation due to flooding). Go for an early start (8am or 9am) to avoid the fierce afternoon heat.
Do you need a licence to ride in Mauritius?
For quads, a category B or A1 licence depending on the operator (checked on arrival); for buggies, a category B licence is compulsory. A French category B licence is recognised in Mauritius. Passengers don't need a licence, just a signed liability waiver. Proof of age (ID) may be requested for children.
What happens in case of rain or bad weather?
Manawa's flexible cancellation means a free change of date or a refund. In light rain, some tours still go ahead (the red lateritic trails stay rideable, though muddy). In heavy rain or a cyclone, the operator moves you to the next day or refunds you. In cyclone season (January-February), keep your dates flexible.
What should you bring for a quad day in Mauritius?
Clothes you don't mind getting dirty (the red soil stains), closed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals), a scarf or bandana for the dust, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen and plenty of water (there's nowhere to fill up along the route). Helmet and dust overalls are provided on most tours. Avoid light colours: the red lateritic soil stains fabric for good.
