This is Réunion ULM's longest flight, and the only one on this page that really flies inside the cirques. You take off from Cambaie in Saint-Paul and climb towards Piton Maïdo at 2,200m, then the pilot banks into Mafate, Salazie or Cilaos, whichever you choose. Because you pick the cirque each time, it's worth doing again if you come back to Reunion Island.
Flying in a microlight is very different from a helicopter: the cabin is open or semi-open, you hear more of the engine, and you feel much more like you're flying. At €195 for 40 minutes, it lasts as long as the helicopter cirques flight (€305) for about a third less, and you really feel you're in the air rather than inside a soundproofed bubble.
The flight also passes Piton des Neiges (3,071m, the highest peak in the Indian Ocean), and on a clear day you might spot Piton de la Fournaise in the distance. You get a headset, commentary from the pilot throughout and photos taken by the pilot (weather permitting). From age 10; under-18s must be with an adult.
Choose this if you want the fullest microlight experience in Reunion Island, or if a helicopter feels too expensive. Manawa price €195, with flexible cancellation up to 24 hours before. Departs from the Cambaie microlight base, with free parking on site.
